This an improvisation that I did for Anthony Coleman's Development of Personal Style class (Recorded 12/1/19). The lyrics (below) are a poem I wrote about social anxiety that I've experienced over the last year. The middle brass priority room on the third floor of Jordan Hall was the first practice room I saw open and I unexpectedly ended up with a broken piano to work with that spawned some cool effects!

My bunch of freaks
sit on the windowsill
and wait, but not for me.

We can rule the world
and I think they agree
in principle.
Their vision is consistent,
but I'm not in it.

Yet to me,
they're still the world.
Even when I'm in the way.
