sometimes, indoors and to face the winter bundled up, I open the window to enjoy the frigid air pee and poo who the fuck are you shit and piss, give your mama a kiss first guy who learned to spy last wife to wield a knife I go dryer sheets to the wind in the night. I go nifty I sift thru criminality. On the other OTHER hand , I have no fingers to my willpower. Go with slowness. Go with slowness. Go with wheezing gently on choir boy dream prairie oysters. do you remember the universal greeting there could be peace in the universe if only we dare to be stupid

oh, forlorn lover, in summer, unfurl - like some vast, florid map, unfurl - we're distant lands, touching somehow, a gently rocking boat - sweetly ripping borders. and in this airborn moment, we're two forms suspended (and opaque architectures shape your shadow). If I could still all motions and listen silently, perfectly, I'd descend into that delicate dreaming realm of our breaths, in sync for an instant hand in hand with the infinite. Oh, sleepy protectors of two gentlest solitudes - geographies are shaped within your trust. the water is a mirror, shattered by our falling - silhouettes nightswimming in July. all limbs speckled with moonlight, midlake, silence but for our breathing.

Was I wrong? Or did I do right bringing up another thing that's sure to make us cry in these hard times there's no shortage in supply of stuff to keep us up at night but I couldn't let it sit there in the silence that you made as you took your time looking for the perfect word or phrase I don't need your poetry I don't want a sugar coat I just want the words caught in your throat I don't always wanna be the one who's asking what is wrong babe tell me did you think that you were doing us a favor keeping everything inside let it out babe show your shadows to the light I will see what I don't hear my imagination will confirm my wildest fears I might toss and turn all night, wondering if you are alright it doesn't matter that you're right here Cause I know this feeling baby I've been here before if it wasn't you than it was someone else that I adored who tried to hide covered pain up with a smile insisting everything was fine

Lyrics: My bunch of freaks sit on the windowsill and wait, but not for me. We can rule the world and I think they agree in principle. Their vision is consistent, but I'm not in it. Yet to me, they're still the world. Even when I'm in the way.

your brain is a chute running down through your spine sending directives to your internal organs your mind is a tube wrapped around each mood coiling the breath out of them your eyes swat flies with their lashes, they're a taxable asset your mouth is imbued with the power to set it straight or spin a circle you wanna hide it but it's showing out back, raked all your leaves up into bags trash bags, you wanna cinch it but it's bulging, pushing back you wanna hide it but it's showing

daydreaming about the mellow air the suns shining, but i don’t care... it’s not the same as in july :( thinkin’ bout the past some things didn’t last oh but when will it feel bright? gotta find that little spark but until then, it’s dark winter blues are on my mind BUT all i wanna do is chill and vibe drink a cup of coffee, maybe go outside and think of all the things that make me wanna smile oh what i’d do for a summer day all i wanna do is feel alright take a break from livin' just to feel alive, and think of all the things that make this life worthwhile oh, what i'd do to have a good day... on the days that i don’t know: what’s wrong the moments that pass too fast: they’re gone on the days that i feel like i don’t belong oh, i pray for what’s to come oh, all i wanna do is feel delight! what’s the point of life if you don’t take the time, to think of all the things that make you want to try to have a good day? oh, all i want to do is chill and vibe drink a cup of coffee, maybe go outside and think of all the things that make you wanna have a good time.... oh, life is so worthwhile!

about

Here it is! * THE BIG FLATTENING * is a 3-volume compilation of music by NEC students & alumni. This is a fundraiser – 100% of the proceeds will go towards mutual aid coronavirus relief organizations across Boston.

These mutual aid networks are truly grassroots efforts - not receiving formal funding, run by-and-for the people they serve, sprouting out of relationships between neighbors donating their resources and skills to support each other. Funds donated to the mutual aid networks will then be available for people requesting financial assistance, or will be put towards the purchase of food and supplies to be distributed directly in those neighborhoods.

Here are links to the mutual aid groups:

Medford and Somerville: mutualaidmamas.com
Jamaica Plain and Roxbury: tinyurl.com/y7tjovxz
Allston and Brighton: tinyurl.com/y8svs5n5
Quincy: tinyurl.com/ycon73n4

The goal of this compilation is for students and alumni to share what they've been working on with each other while simultaneously generating funds to give back to communities in Boston. It is now known that low-income communities of color are hardest hit by coronavirus (tinyurl.com/ya4rd28x). These are often the same communities that are routinely priced out of their neighborhoods by the process of gentrification. We recognize that transient student populations are part of this process of displacement, and we can start to give back by leveraging our networks of friends and family to redistribute wealth to people most impacted by this horrible situation. It is a small gesture of solidarity that while this virus does not discriminate, not everyone is equally impacted by it- so let's share what we love to do while raising funds for people who need it.
